The fact that Oregon started the season 2-0 shouldn't be a surprise, though I suspect people are a little surprised (or maybe a bit disappointed) that the Ducks' defense continues to struggle. The Ducks opened the season with a 53-28 victory over 1-AA Cal-Davis followed by a 44-26 victory over Virginia.
As most expected, Montana State graduate transfer Dakota Prukop won the starting job in fall camp, but what wasn't expected was true freshman Justin Herbert claiming the #2 spot on the depth chart. Redshirt freshman Travis Jonsen, who was expected to push Prukop hard in preseason practice instead found himself on the scout team, with former Nebraska commit Terry Wilson on the third string.
