Just about any championship venue in the Midwest counts as a home court for Nebraska’s volleyball team, thanks to the Huskers' passionate fan base, said Jessica Freedman, the marketing manager at Omaha-based ticket reseller Ticket Express.
So the company was particularly interested when the NCAA announced Kansas City as the site of this week's Final Four.
“We start paying attention when they announce the venue site, especially when it’s in our backyard,” Freedman said.
Tickets went on sale a year ago, and of the 32,000 tickets sold for matches Thursday and Saturday at the Sprint Center, about 4,800 of them went to people with Nebraska addresses, according to Lori Wolf, who manages ticketing for the NCAA volleyball championship.
