The Big Ten Conference recognized 780 winter sport student-athletes, naming them to the Academic All-Conference team Wednesday.
Many of those are Huskers. The NU swimming and diving team had 17 selections, the NU men's gymnastics team had 12, and the NU wrestling program had nine.
NU women's gymnast Danielle Breen was one of 12 Big Ten athletes recognized for 4.0 grade-point averages. Breen is an actuarial science major.
Shavon Shields, a biological sciences major, was named to the team in men's basketball. Shields is a two-time Academic All-American.
Rachel Theriot, a child, youth and family studies major, was named the Big Ten academic team in women's basketball for a third season.
