Years back, a friend took me deep sea fishing off the coast of California for the first and only time in my life. Having been on boats before with no issue, I stupidly refused offers of seasickness pills and therefore began the day vomiting overboard, and then, minutes later, feeling the splat of fresh birdshit on my arm. At that point, I wiped my mouth with the clean arm and pondered the start to my day as an orange sun was just peeking over the horizon.
