On a Friday which felt more like Halloween than May Day, the Nebraska Cornhuskers took care of Maryland while lightning twice appeared in their game and the top of the Big 10 burned.
Lightning first delayed the Huskers-Maryland game for over an hour in the top of the 2nd inning and then for another 50 minutes in the top of the fifth. Before the first stoppage, Hannah Camenzind had staked Nebraska to a 2-0 lead with a 2-run double, her 14th of the season, scoring Ava Kuszak and Sammie Bland.
In the 4th, Laura Camenzind cracked a solo blast off the scoreboard in left and Olivia DiNardo knocked in Jordy Bahl to double the lead to 4-0.
