Huskers Softball Already Beat Tennessee 7-1: Does That Mean Anything Now?

The date was Thursday, February 6, 2025, on a sunny evening in Clearwater, Florida. Approximately #6 Tennessee was playing the (appr.) #16 -Nebraska Cornhuskers in the first game of the season for each.

Softball fans, especially those from the two schools, were fired up for big pitching match-up between Jordy Bahl, her first since blowing her ACL less than three innings into first outing as a Husker, and Karlyn Pickens, Tennessee’s All-American.

The game remained scoreless until a Sophia Nugent double drove one home for the Vols in the bottom of the 4th. Things appeared in control for Pickens as she promptly struck out the first two Huskers to the plate the next inning.
