Huskers hope senior Davis, finally comfortable, provides needed quality depth at OLB

“Alex, he was around the ball a lot last year,” head coach Scott Frost said Wednesday. “He had opportunities to have a lot of plays last year, got a lot of snaps. Sometimes the plays were there to be had and he just didn’t quite make them.”

Davis played in all 12 games and started four for Nebraska in 2018, yet finished the season with just a single solo tackle and five stops overall. He did not have a tackle for loss or a sack. Walk-on Jeremiah Stovall, who didn’t even make the 110-man preseason camp roster, had eight stops playing exclusively special teams over eight games.
