Huskers fill spots in wrestle-offs

Three varsity spots were on the line coming into the night, and that brought some drama.

Redshirt freshman Christian Miller knocked off junior Brian Peska to take the 133-pound spot, after both wrestlers won a semifinal match.

Nebraska coach Mark Manning said the four wrestlers competing for the 133-pound spot were neck-and-neck coming into the night.

Miller is from Plainview, and his high school coach, Dean Boyer, made the 152-mile trip to Lincoln to watch him win the starting spot.

Junior Christian Lance, who wrestled at Fort Hays State, beat Patrick Grayson to win the heavyweight spot in an overtime bout that was the closest match of the night.
