For two years at Nebraska, Nick Percy gained strength and added more than 20 pounds to his frame. He worked and refined his technique. He broke it down and refined it again.
And still he wasn’t throwing the discus and the hammer like he did two years ago, back home on the Isle of Wight.
On Saturday, he’ll get another chance in the Nebraska Invitational at Ed Weir Stadium. The next week, he’ll be targeting the Big Ten meet in Lincoln.
Suddenly, everything is working, even though he is still adjusting to a land-locked state after living near the beach and taking a ferry to discus practice because his school didn’t have the space to throw.
