Husker DT Carlos Davis looks to keep clutch performances coming at discus nationals

Before he ever came to Nebraska as a heralded defensive line recruit and also one of the best high school discus athletes in the country, he stood in a Jefferson City, Missouri, ring and knew he had only one chance to come up clutch.

Davis did just that, launching a nation-best mark to pull back ahead of his twin brother, Khalil, and win a second straight Missouri state championship.

“Some people like to get up before an audience and perform,” NU head track coach Gary Pepin said. “Some of us don’t particularly like to get up in front of a big group of people and speak at all.
