It was clear right from the words “Play ball!” that this would be the Huskers’ day. After a poor start Thursday, and a nightmare finish to the game Friday (after the tarp had been out), Nebraska put together a complete game. Nebraska knew going in that they weren’t going to tax anyone on their pitching staff, so they would potentially need some good offensive numbers, and they got them.
After 2 quick outs to start the game in the first, Cayden Brumbaugh smacked a double into the right center gap. Gabe Swansen was then plunked on an 0-2 count, and Dylan Carey worked a walk to load the bases.
