Hoppen headed to UNL Hall of Fame; 3 Huskers earn Academic All-Big Ten honors

One of Nebraska basketball's all-time great players is headed to the University of Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame.

Dave Hoppen, the program's all-time leading scorer played six seasons in the NBA and was the first Husker basketball player to have his number (42) retired.

The Omaha native broke or tied 19 Nebraska records and five Big Eight records during his career before being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1986. His college career was cut short by a knee injury his senior season.

The 6-foot-11 center is the only Husker to score more than 2,000 career points (2,167), averaging 19.
