Hoiberg Flakes: A Day That Goes Beyond The Start of Summer

Today is Veterans Day. A day where we honor those who have fallen while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

It was originally called “Decoration Day” as one would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. The practice was started before the American Civil War but become a bit more popularized after it. Eventually, it was eventually changed to “Memorial Day”. I’ll keep today's intro short as I would like to give you this poem commemorating this day instead.

Decoration Day

Sleep, comrades, sleep and rest

On this Field of the Grounded Arms,

Where foes no more molest,

Nor sentry’s shot alarms!
