The Blackshirt tradition has been instituted again this season for Nebraska Football. Some players have received the honor at the beginning of the season. Others have been bestowed the honor later in the year. No matter when a player has received it, it is certainly a great honor.
Tuesday, freshman linebacker Garrett Nelson was the recipient of a Blackshirt. You can tell by his reaction that he truly values the honor.
Nelson has recorded 10 total tackles on the year. He has assisted on eight of them, showing that he is not afraid to get in the middle of the action.
