Frosted Flakes: Floods, Aunt Becky and Forgetting

If you live in Nebraska (or South Dakota), you’ve probably been hearing four words the past two days, flood, blizzard, wind, and historic. The first three are never fun words, but are especially unwelcome when accompanied by the fourth.

The photo at top is the view from my living room window into a pasture and the neighbor’s crop field. The soil is still frozen, the rain and warmer temperatures are melting the snow rapidly and the forecast for the next 24 hours is more rain. I expect the water will get much deeper.

Don’t worry about us though.
