Nebraska junior Erika Freyhof was named the Big Ten Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, the conference announced. It is Freyhof's second Athlete of the Week award in her career, as she was also named the Big Ten Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after Augustana Twilight last season.
Freyhof led the Huskers and finished third at the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, last Friday with a 5K personal-best time of 17:01.13. Her time was a new PR by 17 seconds.
A native of Hamilton, Michigan, Freyhof helped the Huskers finish second as a team with 67 points.
