Butler assistant joins Miles' Husker staff

Michael Lewis, who's spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Butler University, is joining the Nebraska men's basketball coaching staff, sources told the Journal Star.

Lewis, a native of Jasper, Indiana, played at Indiana from 1997-2000 and earned All-Big Ten honors as a senior. When he graduated, he was the Hoosiers' all-time leader in assists.

Before coaching at Butler, Lewis spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois, where he was named by FoxSports.com one of the top five assistant coaches in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2010.

A former player in the Continental Basketball Association and United States Basketball League, Lewis earned his master's degree from Texas Tech in 2004.
