Annika Albrecht and Sydney Townsend go back the furthest of the five seniors on the Nebraska volleyball team.
They were in the 2014 recruiting class. They met at a Husker volleyball match when they were in high school.
When Albrecht committed to Nebraska during her senior year, assistant coach Dani Busboom Kelly told Albrecht that she knew she and Townsend were going to be great friends.
“I was like, ‘What, she’s so nerdy and weird,’” Albrecht said. “And Syd said the same thing. She said there was no way Anni and I are going to be friends.
