Aurora standout gives NU verbal commitment, gets hug from Riley

About 15 minutes into Nebraska's football practice Thursday, Austin Allen was approached on the sideline by Husker head coach Mike Riley.

"He told me that it was good having me here today," Allen said Thursday night.

Turns out, Riley has Allen permanently — or at least while they're both at Nebraska.

The 6-foot-8, 230-pound Allen, a standout at Aurora High School, gave Riley an in-person verbal commitment, telling the coach, "Today is the day."

"He shook my hand and had a big ol' grin on his face," said Allen, who plans to play tight end for the Huskers.
