'95 flashback: Green would love to play one more year

He dangled the idea like a fisherman baiting a fish.

“You know I left a year early so I’ve got a year of eligibility left,” Ahman Green said with a laugh. “I’d try to play tomorrow. I loved playing football so much.”

Green played plenty.

The former Nebraska All-American, record-setting Green Bay Packer and Omaha Central standout finished playing in the NFL in 2009. A five-time Pro Bowl back, he was named to the Packer Hall of Fame, the Nebraska Hall of Fame and is still considered one of the best Husker backs ever.

“I loved to practice, most of the time, and I loved lifting and I loved studying and tried to enjoy my college days,” he said.
