It all started with a couple of fans browsing the CFB reddit looking for a way to bring back the fan-started trophy. Most, if not all, trophies are created by the conference they play in. $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy is fan created trophy that has been revived. Patrick Vint at SBNATION did a good job rehashing the history of the first edition. Go check it out.
The trophy was carefully recreated utilizing the new Makerspace on Innovation Campus. Attention to detail of how the original looked was evident when holding the newest version. It is pretty much an exact replica, however, there will be some slight changes which include a back plate for engraving the winner and score of that year’s game.
