DALLAS -- Star Houston Cougars guard Jamal Shead suffered what the team called a badly sprained right ankle in the first half of the team's Sweet 16 game against Duke on Friday night.
The Cougars said X-rays were negative and that Shead "will try to give it a go in (the) second half at some point" after having his ankle retaped.
Shead was on the bench with his teammates coming out of halftime. Houston trailed 23-22 at the break.
Shead was driving when he planted his foot and it turned, though he continued the play and missed a contested layup.
