WEST POINT, N.Y. — To know the history of Army football is to be familiar with the history of college football itself. The various montages and retrospectives this year celebrating the sport's 150th anniversary are littered with a selection of past program greats: running backs Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis, "Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside," Heisman Trophy winners in 1945 and 1946; head coach Red Blaik, who led the Black Knights to three national championships in a row from 1944-46; and running back Pete Dawkins, who won the Heisman in 1958, during the program's last unbeaten season.
