Though head coach Jim McElwain has made it clear that both quarterbacks will play in the Gators’ season opener against New Mexico State, there was a question as to whether it would be Treon Harris or Will Grier that would get their chance to audition for the permanent starting quarterback job first.
And the winner is … Treon Harris!
The sophomore from Miami was picked by McElwain and other coaches to lead the team first in Saturday’s game and it was announced Wednesday by the head coach:
“It was really close,” McElwain said of the competition.
