Northwestern is adding coach Skip Holtz to its football staff, according to reports from ESPN and the Associated Press.
Holtz has been hired as a special assistant to interim head coach David Braun but will only serve in the role for a few months, the reports stated.
Holtz is currently the coach of the USFL's Birmingham Stallions, but his position with the Wildcats will not interfere with his work there. The Stallions won back-to-back championships in the first two seasons of the league's reboot.
Holtz also has coaching experience with Notre Dame, Florida State, South Carolina, South Florida, East Carolina and Louisiana Tech, where he won six consecutive bowl games as head coach.
