No. 6 Oklahoma took a major step toward its third consecutive College Football Playoff appearance with a 30-23 overtime defeat of Baylor in the Big 12 championship game.
The Sooners, who captured their fifth conference title in a row, were ranked sixth in the playoff committee's rankings last week. But with a loss by No. 5 Utah in the Pac-12 title game and the potential loss of No. 4 Georgia to LSU in the SEC title game later Saturday, Oklahoma looks poised to move into the fourth spot.
