Exactly 11 years to the day of its epic upset over Michigan, Appalachian State was extremely close to making more history against a top 10 team once again.
But, ultimately, the storyline turned out to be about Penn State's survival of a colossal upset, as the Nittany Lions were able to escape the wrong side of history with a 45-38 victory in overtime at Happy Valley on Saturday.
