NCAA rules Army veteran ineligible after serving in war zone

The NCAA has ruled Isaiah Brock ineligible of competing in college basketball for Oakland University after joining the Army in 2012 and serving time in Afghanistan and Kuwait war zones, according to CBS Sports.

Brock was invited to play on the basketball team and was going to be honored for his military accolades, which include the Army Commendation Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Medal, an Army Service Ribbon and a Certificate of Achievement.

“I don't want to speak for the NCAA, but I think they put an emphasis on Isaiah Brock in 2011 and what his credentials at that time would suggest,” athletic director Jeff Konya told CBS Sports.
