Former Florida International football player Emmanuel Lubin dies in car accident, school says

Former FIU defensive back Emmanuel Lubin died in a car accident Saturday night, the school announced Sunday.

Lubin, 21, was a North Miami, Florida, native and attended North Miami Beach Senior High School before heading to FIU. In 2018, he started 13 games at defensive back as part of a school-record nine-win campaign and set career highs in tackles (31) and tackles-for-loss (2.5) with four pass breakups.

"Tragically, we lost a great young man in Emmanuel Lubin last night," FIU coach head coach Butch Davis said in a statement. "He was a hard worker, great teammate and was respected and loved by his teammates, coaches and staff at FIU.
