Three regular-season weeks followed by conference championship clashes are all that remain before the College Football Playoff participants are determined. The top candidates know what they have to do, and some know they’ll need help. But whichever category they fall into, they can only, as the coach-speak dictionary would say, control what they can control. The highest-ranked teams should accomplish that with relative ease, so we’ll focus primarily on the possible challengers.
