Duke quarterback Thomas Sirk tears left Achilles tendon

Duke rising senior quarterback Thomas Sirk suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon on Tuesday morning during a team conditioning session and is scheduled for surgery Wednesday.

Sirk's 3,428 total yards in 2015 was second-most in Duke history. He started 12 games for the Blue Devils and was the team's leading rusher with 803 yards. He was third in the ACC in total yards per game, fifth in passing yards per game and 10th in rushing yards per game.

Sirk's status for the 2016 season is unknown. He missed the 2013 season after rupturing his right Achilles tendon.
