There was no earthquake result on Week 2 of the college football season. The only tremors felt were in the Big 12 with its meltdown Saturday that likely eliminated the league's already slim opportunity to place two teams in the College Football Playoff.
The scenario was always going difficult for the conference to achieve. It needed teams like Iowa State and Kansas State to bolster its strength of schedule compared to the SEC. Instead, both lost afternoon games at home to Sun Belt schools. Then Kansas did the same in the evening.
Perhaps an impressive Oklahoma going unbeaten and losing a close Big 12 title game would change things.
