VIDEO: The Epic Friendship Between A NCAA Tournament Star And An Eight-Year Old Cancer Patient Goes Way Beyond Basketball

 

 

Michigan State senior Adreian Payne is a difference-maker on the court, but it's what he does off the floor that makes him a role model for fans everywhere.

Two years ago, Payne befriended cancer patient Lacey Holsworth (who he now calls Princess Lacey), at a local hospital. Payne was her hero, and the two quickly bonded over their love of Michigan State basketball. Holsworth, who has spent the past few years battling an aggressive form of neuroblastoma, has become a major part of the Spartans' team, and this video shows the friendship that formed between two people who inspire each other on a daily basis:

In a time when we're constantly hearing about negative behavior from athletes in the news, it's a refreshing change to find a story like this...which we think deserves more attention than yet another arrest.
