Florida's Best Defensive Player Carried Off The Field After Practice Brawl Turns Ugly

This could be a serious blow for the Gators...a team that can't afford any at the beginning of a crucial season for Will Muschamp.

Sophomore cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III was the lone bright spot for Muschamp's Gators last year, earning a first-team All-SEC nod as a true freshman. In Thursday's drills, the defensive backs and the wide receivers apparently got heated during a tackling drill, with WR Latroy Pittman in the center of things after a thrown punch ignited a brawl. With so many players involved, it was hard to tell exactly what happened, but Hargreaves was clearly down and injured badly after things dispersed.

Hargreaves was carried off the field by two trainers, and was then taken to the medical tent with a number of staff members present. The player was able to limp off to the bench, but was clearly in serious pain.

We'll have more updates as they become available.
