Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid underwent surgery Saturday to repair the orbital fracture around his left eye, league sources said.
Embiid had been scheduled to have the surgery once the swelling goes down, Sixers coach Brett Brown said Friday. The All-Star center also has a concussion; he suffered both injuries during an on-court collision with teammate Markelle Fultz on Wednesday night.
The Sixers have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, which begin April 14, but are fighting to maintain home-court advantage in the first round.
ESPN's Zach Lowe reported that pending the outcome of the surgery, Embiid could be back in two to four weeks.
