NBA Power Rankings - How The NBA Season Is Shaping Up

The 2020/21 NBA campaign continues apace, with the majority of teams already completing one-quarter of their regular season fixtures.

A trio of Western Conference teams are leading the way thus far, although some of their Eastern Conference counterparts have been showing signs of promise.

The Lakers and the Nets are currently the favorites at most betting sites around the world, and both should be in the mix when the play-offs come around.

Read on as we take a closer look at the teams who have been making their mark during the early part of the campaign.

Utah Jazz Keep Rolling

The Jazz have swept all before them over the past few weeks, recording 10 straight victories to charge to the top of the Western Conference.

They currently own the NBA's best record (14-4) after outscoring their opponents by 153 points during their winning win.

Nine of their 10 victories have come by double digits, with only the Denver Nuggets able to get anywhere near them in a 109-105 defeat on January 17.

The Jazz have trailed in the fourth quarter for less than a minute during their recent run, highlighting their excellent current form.

Lakers Show Some Vulnerability
The Los Angeles Lakers’ slipped to a narrow 107-106 defeat at Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday to move onto 14-5 for the season.

The Lakers looked on course to maintain their perfect road record when they took the lead with 11.2 seconds left, but Tobias Harris dashed their hopes with the winning score.

However, the Lakers showed enough to prove that they will be amongst the leading contenders to win the title again this year.

The addition of Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell to the roster has given them Lakers a different look and should stand them in good stead as the season progresses.

Clippers Suffer Triple Blow
The Los Angeles Clippers suffered a triple blow ahead of their six-game road trip, with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverley all unable to travel.

Their absences hit the Clippers hard in Atlanta, with the Hawks running out comfortable 108-99 winners at State Farm Arena.

The Clippers competed well during the first half, but had no answer as the home side stepped things up considerably in the final two quarters.

With a tough schedule ahead of them, the Clippers will be hoping that their high-profile absentees return sooner rather than later.

76ers Highlight Their Title Credentials
The Philadelphia 76ers demonstrated their title credentials by ending the Lakers’ record-breaking winning streak on the road at Wells Fargo Centre.

The Sixers were beaten 119-104 by Denver Pistons earlier this week, but bounced in style against the reigning champions.

Joel Embiid's 28 points edged the Sixers to the win which keeps them at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 13-6 record.

Head coach Doc Rivers knows what it takes to win the NBA title, and Philadelphia could well give the leading teams a run for their money this season.
