The NBA is gearing up for a return to play in Orlando Florida at the end of July. Twenty two NBA teams have been invited to play in eight regular season games leading up to the NBA Playoffs. One of those teams that will be fighting for the 8th seed and a chance to play in the NBA Playoffs is the San Antonio Spurs. Unfortunately for DeMar DeRozan and the Spurs, they will be without big man LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge had to have shoulder surgery in April, which will now cause him to miss the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season. Aldridge is now 34 and has not been fully healthy since moving onto the San Antonio Spurs from the Portland Trail Blazers. He has one more year left on his contract before he enters free agency once more time.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be travelling to Orlando and looking to improve their positioning in the NBA Playoffs. One player that may help them do that is Andre Roberson, who has not played in a game since January of 2018. Roberson is an elite wing defender, although he has not provided much on the offensive end of the floor in his time with Oklahoma City. Whether Roberson returns or not, the Thunder have a lot of young wings on the roster like Luguentz Dort, Darius Bazley and, the most talented of them all, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Brooklyn Nets currently hold a small advantage over the Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. They will have to hold onto that seventh seed or continue to move up, however, without the help of Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant. Durant was never expected back after blowing out his achilles last season with the Golden State Warriors, but there was a chance he could have played when the season resumed. The Nets and Kyrie Irving have both now confirmed that he will not play when the NBA returns in July.
