NBA News: Bradley Beal & Spencer Dinwiddie Are OUT, Dwight Howard is IN & The Newest Houston Rocket

The NBA is getting set to return at the end of July as players, teams and coaches begin leaving for the Orlando bubble in Walt Disney World. One team headed to Orlando with hopes of grabbing the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference is the Washington Wizards. The Wizards however, will have to climb that mountain without their star player in Bradley Beal. Bradley Beal has decided not to play in Orlando due to an injury he suffered in his right rotator cuff. Beal has been putting up nearly 29 points per game this season for the Wizards, who have been without their second-best player all year long in John Wall.

Another Eastern Conference team that will be fighting without its best players is the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are already going to be without Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler and Nicolas Claxton, but as of July 7, they are also heading to Orlando without Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince. Dinwiddie was the Nets’ highest-scoring player left on the roster after the departure of Irving, but they will now look to players like Caris LeVert and Joe Harris to have a big impact. Prince is no small loss either as he has started 61 games this season for the Nets in place of Kevin Durant, who has not played all year due to a torn achilles.

The Los Angeles Lakers are headed to Disney World with one thing on their mind: to win an NBA Championship. The Lakers are going to be without Avery Bradley while in Orlando, but they just received word that Dwight Howard will play despite being back and forth on his decision. Howard has been one of the best back-up big men in the entire NBA this season, as he is averaging 7.5 points per game and 7.4 rebounds. The Lakers’ big man announced that he will donate the remainder of his game checks to his non-profit organization, Breathe Again.

The Houston Rockets have most of their regular season roster ready to go in Orlando, but Thabo Sefolosha is the only player who has decided to sit out. Sefolosha has not played much this season off the bench, but now that he is sitting out, the Houston Rockets have brought back a familiar face in Luc Mbah a Moute. The defensive wing was a highly-touted prospect coming out of UCLA, and he had a relatively long career, but his last appearance in the NBA was for just four games with the Los Angeles Clippers. Mbah a Moute played in 61 games with the Houston Rockets back in 2017-18 and will now return as a new bench option for Mike D’Antoni.
