Marcus Smart showed elite potential as a defender during his two years at Oklahoma State, leading the Big-12 in steals in both 2012-13 (99) and 2013-14 (89). The 2012-13 USBWA Freshman of the Year has great size and amazing instincts for a point guard. He has the frame and the body control to finish at the rim through contact, and the eagle-eye court vision to make the extra pass when necessary. Smart attacks the ball with maximum effort on the defensive end both against the dribble and on the boards. On the attack, he has the size to create mismatches against small point guards down low, making him a potential extreme headache for NBA defenses down the road.
