Most football players would be upset if the coaching staff asked them to make a position change.
Not Navy's Tyris Wooten, who welcomed the move from wide receiver to cornerback. Having failed to earn playing time on offense, Wooten saw it as a new lease on life. Plus, the Florida native felt more comfortable on defense anyway.
"Actually, I was excited about it. Coming here, I kind of wanted to play defensive back a little more than receiver," Wooten said.
Head coach Ken Niumatalolo informed Wooten of the switch prior to spring practice last March.
