It would seem to make sense for a pair of service academy lacrosse programs to play on a regular basis. However, that has not been the case with Air Force and Navy, which have met just seven times now.
Four of those meetings came between 1994 and 2000 with the Midshipmen winning by an average score of 16-4 over vastly inferior Falcons squads. The series came to an abrupt halt in 2003 after Air Force shocked Navy, 8-6, at Rip Miller Field.
Current head coach Rick Sowell agreed to resume the rivalry last year and Navy traveled to Colorado Springs for the first time in history.
