Turnovers, mistakes cost Navy

Just over two minutes into the game, it looked like Navy had the chops to beat Notre Dame.

Outside linebacker D.J. Palmore got pressure on quarterback DeShone Kizer on consecutive plays to start the opening possession, forcing an incompletion and a rushed pass that went for no gain. Kizer, who appeared somewhat shaky on that first possession, was nowhere near a receiver with his third pass and just like that the Fighting Irish had to punt.

Navy took over at its own 30-yard line and quarterback Keenan Reynolds immediately ripped off a 51-yard run on first down.
