In a real rarity, Navy beat archrival Army three times in women’s basketball last season. The Midshipmen swept the regular season series then upset the Black Knights in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
That postseason contest, held at Sojka Pavilion on the campus of Bucknell University, was a real thriller with Sarita Condie making a miraculous 3-pointer with .5 seconds left on the clock to give Navy a dramatic 54-53 victory.
Army was picked to capture the 2018 Patriot League championship in a preseason poll, primarily because it returned all five starters.
