Playing at Navy stadium will be emotional for SMU quarterback

One of Garrett Krstich's fondest memories involves watching the Army-Navy football game with his father.

"That was our thing, our day together. No distractions, no interruptions; just sitting there glued to the television rooting for Navy to beat Army," Garrett recalled.

Jeff Krstich was a standout football player at the Naval Academy, a two-way starter and co-captain of the 1969 team. He would serve 20 years in the Navy as a helicopter pilot, performing search-and-rescue missions in Vietnam among other things, before retiring as a lieutenant commander.

"My husband absolutely loved Navy football and followed it very closely," Gwyn Krstich said.
