Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo knew he would get fined by the American Athletic Conference. He proceeded to unload on the officiating crew nonetheless.
“I know I’m going to get reprimanded. I don’t care, man. I’ll take the fine,” Niumatalolo said.
Niumatalolo was angry about a block in the back penalty that erased a 30-yard touchdown run by slotback Malcolm Perry. Center Ford Higgins was whistled for the infraction for what was basically a love tap.
“I thought that killed us. It’s a horrible call, just a flat-out, a horrible call. One of the worst I’ve seen in my 29 years of coaching,” Niumatalolo said.
