Jim Nestor was mentored by some incredible coaches while attending Meade High in the mid-1980s.
Nestor played soccer and lacrosse for Dan Hart and was a standout wrestler under the tutelage of Steve Mitas, Sam Pandullo and Chuck Markiewicz.
Jerry Mears was the athletic director and head football coach at the time while Butch Young was the basketball coach. I became well-acquainted with all the aforementioned men while covering high school sports for this newspaper and can say without hesitation that each was among the best in the business.
