Thanks to seven different goal scorers and the stellar play of freshman goalkeeper Jo Torres, the Midshipmen defeated Bucknell, 14-6, in their regular season finale Friday night in Annapolis to clinch a spot in the Patriot League tournament for the 13th straight time.
Navy, which trailed 4-3 before scoring six straight goals to close out the first half, earned the No. 3 seed and will travel to Lehigh Monday for a 1 p.m. Patriot League quarterfinal game.
“What can I say, but we really love to win,” said Navy coach Cindy Timchal. “The players have found joy in learning together and living through this season and a very unique season and going on to get to the Patriot League championship again.
