Slow starts and fast finishes were the order of the day for the Navy men's and women's basketball team Sunday at Alumni Hall.
Some three hours after the men's squad overcame a sluggish first half to rout Division III Goucher, the Navy women's team rebounded from a slow offensive start and used an explosive third quarter to pull away from North Carolina A&T for a 52-48 victory. The Mids (2-1) went scoreless for the first five-plus minutes of the contest.
"I was proud," Navy women's coach Stephanie Pemper said. "I thought we outlasted them mentally and physically, and I think you started seeing that in the third quarter.
