There was no update on the status of Navy quarterback Tago Smith on Sunday.
Navy athletics spokesman Scott Strasemeier said Smith is due to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging examination on Monday and head coach Ken Niumatalolo would announce the results as soon as they were available.
Here's hoping all the prayers of Navy coaches and players are answered and Smith merely suffered a severe bruise or another lesser injury that would allow him to return at some point. However, the reaction of Niumatalolo (who got choked up in the postgame press conference) and offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper (who said he was "devastated") indicates the initial prognosis is ligament damage of some sort that would be season-ending.
