Team captain Cam Davis was unavailable because of coronavirus contract tracing involving an individual not involved with the Navy program. He and fellow starter Richard Njoku missed a second straight game because of the protocols.
It was also revealed before tip-off that Ed DeChellis would not be leading the Midshipmen on Sunday. The 10th-year head coach remained at home due to a health issue unrelated to COVID-19, leaving assistants Jon Perry and Emmett Davis to coach the team.
In a surprise development, Luke Loehr did participate in the pregame Senior Day ceremony even though he was not expected to do so.
